Beauty and make-up trends of 2021

After being in lockdown for months and following endless social distancing, I know all of our looking forward to make up trend of spring summer 2021 even though we are spending yet another season amidst the threat of the pandemic.

Spring/Summer 2021 make up trends feels a little more serious this year and seems to be channeling the pandemic situation. Fashion designers are giving everyone front row seats to their latest digital fashion shows. This year’s make-up and hair trends are inspiring and will surely not disappoint you.

These trends have been designed keeping our DIY and skincare routine and no make up phase during this lockdown. The trends this year are soft relaxed and laid back, after all we have been at home for almost a year and our skin has started to respond well to all the natural skin care routine.

Let’s have a look at some of coolest trends in beauty and incorporate some of them as we are all set to get back to our routine life.

Muted skin

This trend of a muted skin has been seen on the runway of Balmain, Valentino and Louis Vuitton. Not too shinny not too dewy or not even too matt just the perfect amount of naturally looking hydrated skin is going to be a big hit this season.

Do not jump back into applying lots of make up routine yet, have a well hydrated skin with just and hint of foundation and you are good to step in the outside world post quarantine.

Do not forget to add a base layer of your cream or a moisturiser or a hydrating mist before applying nay kind of make up on your face. This primer with a hint of foundation will give you the perfect natural glowing skin.

How to keep your skin hydrated?

Use a moisturizing cream rather using a lotion. Creams are thicker and hydrating. If your skin is really dry you can also mix in a vitamin e tablet with your cream daily.

Follow your night care routine religiously and drink at least 3 litres of water everyday to keep your skin hydrated naturally. If you do not want to invest in a lot of expensive night creams just apply 2 layers of aloe vera gel mixed with vitamin e oil or almond oil and you shall see your face glowing within a month.

You can also use a hydrator or a face steamer on a regular basis so that your skin does not dry out. The face steamer will also help you open your pores and clean out all the dirt and dust accumulated.

Soft waves

You can see these kind of soft waves dawned by models on the runway of Prada Balmain and Etro.

The designers know we have gotten to use to working from home in our pyjamas and to break that routine and getting ready with perfect hair and make up and heading to office is going to take some taking use too.

Imperfect curls and waves is the whole mood for the coming summer.

I know what you thinking, styling your hair into perfect beach waves also takes a lot of effort and styling in front of the mirror with your curler or straightener.

Well I have a trick for you which will help you get those perfect soft wavy hair with out putting in much efforts.

How to get the soft waves easily?

Wash and condition your hair like you regularly do then apply a little bit of hydrating serum or a leave in conditioner. At this stage you can also apply very little styling mousse or your curling spray.

After applying the mousse just scrunch your hair a little part by part from the roots. This should give you nice soft waves or a wet beachy looks.

In case you do not have a mousse or a curling spray do not worry, after applying hydrating serum in your hair, just take all of your hair in your hand and start twisting it from the end until it is completely twisted till the top. Now take a clip and make this twisted hair into a bun and clip it. Leave it this way for 2 to 3 hours. Once you open your hair just run your fingers through them and see the transformed look in the mirror.

In case you do not have two to three hours to wait and need those soft waves instantly then please apply a heat resistant serum in you hair and make 6 to 8 partitions. Now twist each partition and run a straightener over the twisted hair. This will also help you achieve soft beachy waves once you open the twists.

Messy knots or WFH knots?

Fuss free, low maintenance knots have been everyone’s hairstyle for the whole of 2020. The designers want to continue this trend of messy tied up buns as presented by Jacquemus. And since these work from home knots have been such a hit last year why not continue the trend to our office as well, specially when this hairstyle is super efficient and useful while chasing those deadlines or completing those last minute changes

How to get a work from home knot?

Tie your hair into a pony tail. Make this pony tail into two parts and pull the ends apart to tighten your pony. Now twist the base a few times as if you are going to make it into a bun. Take all the hair together twist it around the scrunchie of your pony tail and keep turning until u reach the end of your hair, then tuck the ends in side the newly made bun and you are done. Your WFH bun is ready.

The Almost smoky eye.

Smoky eyes has always been a hit on the ramp and you can be sure it will create a lot of drama. But since this season is all about being natural and it’s the year for minimalistic make up, we have seen the designers creating little drama with subtle mid-tone brown eye shadow.

Models at Tarun Tahiliani show were seen with warm bronze eye shadows and a very thin line of kohl along the waterline.

How to get Brown smoky eyes?

Apply a light or a neutral color on the inner corners of your eye and on the brow bone. This will work as a highlighter.

Now take a little darker shade of brown and apply this on the crease. Avoid the brow bone while applying this. You can also apply this color on the lower lash line of your eyes. Make sure u apply a very thin layer just to highlight you eye further and give it more definition.

Take a darker shade of brown and concentrate this color on the outer lid of you eye. Blend this color perfectly with second shade of brown so that it looks even and flawless. Apply this color on the outer parts of your lower lash line and blend it with previously applied color as well.

Now take a brown kohl and apply it along the upper lash line, you can also use a black kohl if u prefer. Apply a very thin and light layer of the kohl.

After this step take an ear bud and gently start smudging the kohl line into the eye shadow. DO not over smudged it or your eyes will look messy.

If you want to add a little more definition now you use an extremely thin layer of an eye line on top of the kohl.

And your almost smoky eyes are ready

Smudged lips

Smudged lips trend have been seen at various fashion show runways like Tarun Tahiliani, Gucci and Salvatore Ferragamo.

Bright lip shades like berry, blood red and tangerine are back in trend.

This season is all about convenience and looking your natural best, so why bother applying a lip liner and defining your lips first. Apply these beautiful lip shades directly on your lips starting from the Centre of your lips patting towards the outward direction.

This will give you a natural, kissed and undone natural lip look.

This season gives your skin a little break from all the chemical there in your cosmetics and put minimalistic make up with a bright red smudged lipstick.

You can also do a mascara free look with this bright smudged lips and see the low key transformation.

Gelled back sleek hair

Till now we have read at multiple places, this year’s trend is all about simplicity and looking all natural and like we all know a natural fuss free look has ruled this season’s runway.

But is it really a spring / summer show unless a few models steps out on the ramp in slick – just came out of the pool hair. Well this is a timeless hairstyle which can never go out of style.

This hair style reflect the health of your hair and gives you a hydrated frizz free look.

Today who amongst us does not struggle with flyaways and Frizzy hair? Even the people with the most extensive hair care routine can have a bad hair day and struggle with unmanageable strands. This hair trend is the perfect solution for getting rid of those flyaways.

This hair trend has been seen in Burberry, Balenciaga and Nanushka shows.

How to get a sleek Hair look?

For this look make sure your hair are clean and has absolutely no dust and grease in it.

Damp your hair and comb them removing all the knots. Now do a perfect middle partition in your hair going all the way to the back of your head, I suggest use a tail comb for making this partition, and it will make your life simpler.

Make 4 partitions in your hair and then start applying hair gel starting from the roots working towards the end. You will have to take a lot of hair gel for this look.

After you have applied the hair gel comb your hair again from the roots towards the end in one single stroke. The hair gel will help your hair stick together and give you a sleek look like you desire.

Once you have achieved the look you want, spray on some glossy finishing hair spray. This will help you keep everything in place through out your event. You can also spray on some of the hair spray on the tail comb brush and run the brush rough your hair lightly, this will help you get rid of the flyaways.
